Staple ApeChain presents

"Pulsewidth" is an animated generative artwork, blending algorithms and mathematics, presented in a grid-like dithering style the artist calls PWM.

Animated and ever changing the visuals flow and morph in realtime to an unseen set of rules and algorithms that drive the discovery of itself. Painted in a two-tone palette, often of just black&white, but not always, colour can find a way to take over and saturate the output.

Artistic control vs. Algorithm

In generative art, the artist meticulously crafts the underlying algorithms and mathematical systems, effectively designing a "ruleset" that then allows the artwork to manifest forms, ultimately ceding a degree of artistic control to the emergent, unpredictable outcomes.

Visual style: PWM dithering

This artwork's visual style is inspired by Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), a technique that controls average power of an electrical signal by varying pulse duration; similarly, each cell's intensity is modulated by its pulse width.
